Make sure you have room for this printer before you order it. While I made the stand and I knew the measurements of the printer, it is a little disorienting to see just how big the printer is. I fished the printer out of the box and put it on a special constructed stand made just for this event.
Foam spacers provide additional protection and they were designed to use the minimal amount of foam to provide the maximum protection. The box is double walled corrugated cardboard so the printer was well protected from crushing.
I also have a sensitive nose so you might not detect what I did. That isn't a deal breaker for me because in the Phoenix climate, I know any remaining odor will quickly fade. As there was no water damage to the box, the odor was probably the result of spending all the time at sea. The first thing I noticed was a mildew odor in the box.
